First Spring has sprung for the Drahn household! The days are longer, the sun is shining, and our winter bones are thawing out as we welcome in the new season. Here are some things we've been up to...
A Birthday Bonanza!
We celebrated not one, not two, but THREE birthday parties with sweet friends in a single weekend! I'm so grateful that our kids have friends like this in their lives; they are all just good, big-hearted, full-spirited little humans.
Celebrating A New Nibling on the way!
In January my sister Mina surprised us with news - she's expecting! The kids each took a guess at the sex of the baby - interesting that they independently guessed the baby was a boy... alas, it's a girl! We're excited to celebrate her and our new little nibling on the way.
Happy dances!
From bun buns and rainbow skirts, to library book hauls and Gangnam Style in the kitchen...lots of happy dances and goofy moments.
Swimming Lessons!
Saturday morning swim remains a staple in our family schedule! (Alongside Monday night date night for Jubee and I, Wednesday night D+D Adventurer's League for James, and Thursday night music practice for Maya.)
Park Walks!
We have a beautiful paved walking path right at the end of our block. It's been so wonderful to explore it! In one direction you can find yourself at a number of different playgrounds, and in the other you find yourself at our local ice cream shop, coffee shop, brewery, and if you keep going far enough you'll arrive at Harvard Gulch Park! It offers a very peaceful pond and mountain view.
After School Selfies!
If the kids ask for selfies, the kids get selfies!
A Cg5 Concert!
We surprised the kids with tickets to see one of James' favorite musical artists at the moment - CG5! We stopped along the way for a quick dinner visit with family, and then continued on to Fort Collins for the concert. It was a family friendly show, and both of the kids really enjoyed themselves. James even waited after the concert to have his t-shirt signed! Of course, we treated ourselves to ice cream afterward.
A Dinosaur quest!
We spent a whole day romping around with life-size animatronic dinosaurs and getting up to all kinds of fun with our favorite prehistoric pals!
Date Nights!
Couples' massage. Book store shopping. Decadent desserts. What else can a gal ask for on a Monday night date night?!
And Old School Movie Nights!
When James was younger, we had a ritual on Fridays as Family Movie Nights! We went all out, and used to plan snacks and treats themed around the movie. The week before Spring Break, there was a Wednesday night when only James and I were home togehter; Maya was with her Dad for a family birthday celebration, and Jubee was at work. We were excited for a rare "Mommy - James Date" day, and when I asked him what he wanted to do with our special night, he said he wanted an old school movie night like "the olden days". He picked the newest Sonic the Hedgehog movie, and we went all-out on the Sonic-themed treats. It was a terrific, nostalgic night together!
The federal political landscape is a scary, and alarming one for us in many ways right now. We hope that you are all safe and well and standing strong in resistance however you can.
With love,
Amanda
